Standard 10
Teachers are connected with other teachers and the community.
The teacher fosters relationships with school colleagues, parents, and agencies in the larger community to support pupil learning and well being and acts with integrity, fairness and in an ethical manner.

Evidence 1: Classroom Blog
Rationale 1: Through the masters program, I have learned so much about technology and the way it can connect us to the world around us. One great way to connect and communicate to other teachers, parents and community is to use a classroom blog. I have participated in blogs recently with other teachers and I like the fact that it is an easy and not an intimidating way to share ideas. I think it is another great way to have parents participate and interact in their child’s classroom and education.

KSD
10.K.2 The teacher understands how factors in the students’ environment outside of school (e.g. family circumstances, community environments, health, and economic conditions) may influence students’ lives and learning.
In today’s busy world, parents and students seem to be pulled in many directions. Many have multiple activities and responsibilities beyond the school door. This can make it hard to for parents to fully participate in their child’s classroom and to know what is really going on in school. Technology, such as a classroom blog, can be used to enhance the relationship between school and home by increasing student learning outside of the classroom. The interaction between the teacher, student and parents through a classroom blog provides immediate and positive feedback to a student’s life and learning.
10.S.3 The teacher can identify and use community resources to foster student learning.
Through a classroom blog, I can encourage further learning outside of the classroom by giving students additional resources and link that connect with what we are learning in the classroom. Parents can also communicate with others through the blog on how to enhance students learning outside of the classroom with activities that relate to what is happening in the classroom.
10.D.1 The teacher values and appreciates all aspects of a child’s experience.
Students are constantly learning and by using technology as a learning tool, it can improve students’ education and teach them to become lifelong learners with 21st century skills. A classroom blog is a great way to provide additional learning opportunities and activities from concepts being learned in the classroom to students and their families outside of the classroom.
