Rationale 1: I developed this website in order to better communicate between teachers and parents of children entering Kindergarten. This online course is designed as a resource to introduce parents and students to the readiness skills and concepts needed to give their child a head start when entering into Kindergarten through the use of technology.
KSD 6.K.4 The teacher recognizes the importance of nonverbal, verbal and media communication techniques. Communication in today’s busy world is more important than ever. I believe that the key to success is the interaction between home and school, between teachers and parents. Offering a variety of ways to promote communication in this online course will help support busy parents in their efforts to develop the needed readiness skills and concepts in their child. Any communication lets the child know that the parents are interested in what they are doing. 6.S.5 The teacher knows how to use a variety of media communication tools, including audiovisual aids and computers, to enrich learning opportunities. This class wiki offers several interactive readiness games and activities that will motivate and engage students in their learning. In creating this class wiki, I used quality resources and links for students and parents to extend the students learning. This will help students become well-rounded individuals. 6.D.2 The teacher values many ways in which people seek to communicate and encourages many modes of communication in the classroom. Experiencing something new is always uncomfortable. Our class wiki was set up to be very user friendly and easy to understand. The wiki will provide parents with insight and knowledgeable information on the readiness skills and concepts needed to enter Kindergarten. It allows multiple ways to communicate with the teacher if a parent has any questions and concerns which will make them more comfortable with an online course.
